EO4WI Requirement Baseline Review meeting

EO4WI (Earth Observation for Wetlands Inventory) aims to develop a global solution for wetland inventorying in a close collaboration with user countries. Detecting the location and extent of wetlands on a large scale is the first step and has been well demonstrated in previous projects like GlobeWetlandAfrica.

A real gamechanger will be the integration of EO and other technologies to assign ecosystem classes to the land cover based on a classification crosswalk comprising the main wetland topologies, namely, Ramsar, IUCN and SEEA. In a first phase four early adopter countries have been contacted (Algeria, Colombia, Italy and Kenya) who guide the development through their requirements and national reporting purposes.
